The article on Oriental Daily for NTV7 Foodie Blogger (愛食客) TV program is finally out last Wednesday (21/5/2014).
The article is of course, all about Ernest Chong (张顺源), the host of the TV program, while I play second fiddle as the invited guest of the day. This was my first time on a Chinese newspaper, which means I’ve now appeared in newspaper articles of all three major languages, woohoo!

For the article, we went to the Taman Connaught Pasar Malam for 3 challenges whereby we, with the help of the hawker stall operator, come up with our own preparation of the food, then serve it to the public to get votes. The first challenge was the stinky tofu, follow by salted pau and potted ice cream.

Whenever someone votes for either of us, we get a little NTV7 sticker. At the end I collected 14 to Ernest’s 12 or 13 stickers, but he won the 1st and 3rd challenges while I only came up top for the sauce I made for salted pau. I had the majority votes, I guess, but like general elections in Malaysia, it’s the number of seats won that matters.
No prize anyway, hahaha, it was all fun!
Foodie Blogger airs on Thursday 10pm, I’m the guest on the segment that features KL hawker foods that should be aired in a few weeks.

Here’s the full article copied from Oriental Daily. Interestingly, the writer, the artist, and myself all shared the same surname 张.

A couple weeks ago I got an SMS from Ellfian asking if I was interested in appearing on the Malay Mail in a feature story, to which I of course answered with a yes.
Fast forward a week or so later, here’s the article that
appeared over the weekends will be on The Malay Mail Oct 11, 2013. My partner in crime was Kelly Siew, who writes about food & cooks too.
Thanks to Datuk Wong for sending me the PDF file of which the screenshot above was taken.

In an unrelated story, I got my hands on another unit of Nescafe Dolce Gusto Genio machine. This was because my previous unit has since been hijacked by Haze to her office, and there was no chance I’ll ever lay my hands on it again as everyone in the office loved it!
Latte Machiatto prepared in about a minute or so
If you’re not familiar with this, it’s a little coffee machine that can power up and make quite a few different types of coffee/tea/and chocochino drinks in mere minutes, without getting our hands dirty, and hardly needs a rinse there after. One of the most convenience and economical ways to a cup of good espresso based coffee at home.
Read my previous post (with a video) on the machine if you want to find out more about it.
fancy a trip to Tokyo? you can win it!
By the way, there’s a contest where you can design the Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine and finalists (2 from Malaysia) will win a trip to Tokyo, all expense paid, including a partner too.
You can find out more about the contest on Dolce Gusto Malaysia FB page. I’m going to convince Haze to participate!
This is the best issue that SURF magazine has published so far, why? Cos you there is a 2 page story on yours truly as well as articles on my buddies ShaolinTiger and Boss Stewie from Nuffnang. Remember, remember, go get Issue #9 of SURF!
yeay KYspeaks is there!
This is actually the first time I appear in a magazine, previously there was a little article on NST for my Nokia N82’s Soul of the Night involvement, and then of course there’s the old Kosmo article on my Koi Pond. Now anyone wanna get me on TV or radio? hee-hee
Mouth Wide Open
The article carries quite a narcissistic tone, it is mostly about myself and this blog. There’s how I started the blog, what sort of food I like most, how I do reviews, and even my age is revealed *gasp*.
Of course, there is a similar 2 page article on the mat salleh ShaolinTiger, and a pretty good article on the two local blog advertising firms including Nuffnang, with yet another photo of Boss Stewie plastered on main media.

Get a copy yo!
It’s been a while I bought newspaper, but I couldn’t help myself but to get yesterday’s version of New Sunday Times. Unlike the “celebrity bloggers” who appear on printed media every other week, this is something a bit rarer for me. If you haven’t check it out, here goes!
Here is the link to the full article online, you can also click on the image on the right for a screen captured version. This article is in conjunction with my involvement in the Nokia Nseries Soul of the Night project.
To be fair, I was on Kosmo newspaper a couple years back with an interview about my koi pond, and another article on NST that has something to do with the now defunct monsterblog project. Oh, not to forget a mention on Star Metro about an article regarding the local hawker scene.
Keep them coming, keep them coming. =D
