Been a couple years since I penned another bak kut teh entry in this blog, that should be deemed unacceptable… To be fair, it’s not that I’ve lost the love for my favorite dish, but I’ve just been a bit slacking on writing.. Anyway, let’s get on to it.
Ah Meng bak kut teh, Taman Sentosa
Ah Meng bak kut teh was introduced to me by Zess, an old friend of mine who grew up and stays in Klang. If I have to pick anyone to be the authority of all things bak kut teh, he’ll be the person. Of course, I went there the first opportunity I got.
Being at Taman Sentosa, Ah Meng bak kut teh is a bit “out of the way”, but that comes with the benefit of having a stress free parking situation. The set up is as with most typical BKT kopitiam, plastic tables and chairs, plenty of ceiling fans, electric hot water supply for tea making, and an open kitchen/food prepping area right in front.
“kahwan” & “pua pui chiak” cuts in claypot
For the three of us, we ordered “kah wan” (leg joint), and “pua pui chiak” (half fatty) meat cuts for 2-portion in clay pot (RM 20 per portion for clay pot). The restaurant was about 80% packed when we made sat down, but thankfully service was rather efficient, our piping hot clay pot of goodness arrived a mere 6 minute later.
Other than meat and offal (we did ask to include intestine & pork stomach), there’s romaine lettuce, tofu skin, tofu pok, and of course, mushroom.
love the fried shallots, Casey approved
In this day and age of high price of pork, the portion we were served was rather generous. Portion of 2 was more than enough to serve 3, I’d describe both the texture and taste of soup here to be very well balanced. They were not too strong, too hard/soft, and certainly not diluted. There’s also fried shallot to be added on top of your rice if you like to add an extra dimension like me.
Oh, extra soup all day here as well. If you’re a fan of Klang bak kut teh, this one is worth a visit.

Long overdue! And where is day 3 – 7 TW post?
kekeke: soon!
wah, that PPC looks proper which made the BKT awesome. Your informant is indeed an expert.
kekeke: everyone needs a good informant.
I am good as well, always give real news, not fake news
kekeke: good news is the best news.
walau eh, still give unlimited fried shallots, I thought no more post pandemic and inflation era. But sadly this will be extinct some time soon.
kekeke: don’t let them know!
