Having been a frequent traveler to Kota Kinabalu for work, I often take the opportunity to bring back some frozen seafood from the land beneath the wind. My usual loot are usually different types of garupa, but sometimes I do get something different, and that’s how I ended up with some lobster tail meat.
lobster tail and tofu, with “tauju” sauce
Lobster tail is somewhat between crab and prawn, both in terms of texture and taste, something that I really enjoy. And since we have a 1 year old in the house, I thought I should use it to cook something everyone could enjoy – Lobster Tail & Tofu with “Tauju”.
Ingredients:
- lobster tail (250 gram, you can also substitute this with prawns)
- some garlic
- tofu – one block, cut into squares
- 2 tbsp tauju (aka fermented tofu)
- chopped spring onion
- cooking oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch, mix with 1/2 cup water
start off with frying garlic and lobster tail
Cooking instructions:
- heat up cooking oil and start frying garlic until fragrant
- add lobster tail and stir fry for a minute or two
- add tofu and fermented tofu
- stir fry for another minute, then add cornstarch
- add chopped spring onion just before serving
add tofu, fermented tofu, and cornstarch later
The result is a pretty simple to cook dish that tastes rather awesome, and for RM 25’s worth of lobster tail, absolutely worth it!
