San Peng road is one of the less trafficked roads in the heart of KL, playing second fiddle to the likes of Jalan Pudu, Jalan Loke Yew, and Jalan Sungai Besi. For the locals though, this little stretch of tarmac also houses some of the most delicious hidden secrets.
San Peng road Guang Ji Chicken Ho Fun & Rice
We’ve previously talked about the San Peng road prawn mee, and today let’s check out the Ipoh kuih teow at “Guang Ji Ho Fun”, also sometimes known simply as San Peng road Ipoh hor fun.
two Ipoh hor fun & a sharing plate of offal
The “shop” here is a zinc roofed cage of sort by the roadside that doesn’t actually provide any semblance of creature comfort you may expect from a proper restaurant. You could call it semi-outdoor dining, or even al-fresco, but at certain time of day, expect to sweat a bit (but you do get very good golden lighting for photos so… )
possibly the best ipoh hor fun in Klang Valley
We went there on Sunday brunch time and the place were packed. After securing a table under almost direct sunlight, we ordered 2 bowls of hor fun and a plate of braised chicken feet and pork offal to share.
The hor fun, what do I start? It was simply as good as the bests of Ipoh, the soup packed with aroma from prawn heads/shells, with a tell tale sign of prawn oil on the surface. The steamed chicken prepared with perfectly smooth and soft texture while not being under cooked. The kuih teow, or hor fun used here too were of the same quality texture wise.
Overall it was just a very delightful bowl of breakfast that makes you wonder if you’re really in the midst of KL, simply wonderful.
The braised chicken feet, pork offal, and tofu followed the similar theme of soft, tender, and flavorful note that were done just right as well, there’s also the home made sweetish chili sauce available for dipping.
At the end, I wished I had a bit more stomach space to try more of their dishes.. perhaps the chicken rice next time?

I love chicken hor fun. Here, we will have to go to Pappa Rich or Nam Heong to eat. Not available at our local sops and stalls.
suituapui: well, similar to how difficult for us to get good kampua mee in KL!
You really make me drooled over your photos and decided to make it my brunch after my monthly facial appointment two weeklater.
Choi Yen: hahah good idea!
I’ve been urging you to come here all this while and you finally made it…yay! I’m glad to hear your verdict of “as good as the best ones in Ipoh” which cements the fact that this kshf is a really good rendition of Ipoh’s version. Possibly the best Ipoh hor fun in Klang Valley? Well, it’s my gold standard (for now) anyway…hehe! 😉 P/S: If you do revisit, please do try their poached chicken which is awesome.
eatwhateatwhere: yess I shall try their poached chicken lain kali!
Poached chicken is too soft I feel but I agree with you on the hor fun
Mark: ohh, I do like them soft 😀
