When it comes to hawker dishes from Johor, Tangkak beef noodle is perhaps the most recognizable. So the other day while traveling down to Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast (more on that in upcoming post), we made the decision to stop by Tangkak for a meal, which turned out to be a great decision.
Do Do Do beef noodle at Tangkak
There are more than one restaurants serving beef noodle, the one we chose for the day was Do Do Do beef noodle restaurant, partly because of its location being literally just a stone’s throw away from Tangkak toll plaza.
The restaurant is located at a corner shop lot, with a simple but pretty comfortable set up. We were there on Sunday over lunch, and it was rather busy. It took us a while to get the attention from the server, however, food didn’t take long to arrive once we made our order.
soup or dry version? which is your choice?
We stuck to the basics and ordered a soup and a dry version of “3 treasures” with beef, tripe, and tendon, both with extra ingredients at RM 15.50 each (normal version comes in at RM 9.50). There’s a choice of yellow noodle, meehun, and kuih teow as well.
Verdict? Well, I understand why this dish makes the town famous now. The texture of meat and offal were excellent, soft and tender without losing its integrity. Taste wise it had the proper herbal-ish aroma while retaining natural beef flavor, I particularly enjoyed the tendon and those tripes. Excellent.
best highway stop-over food ever
I’m going to make Tangkak a must-have stopover whenever traveling down to Johor proper! Will give the other shop a try soon too (we did on the way back to KL but it was sold out unfortunately.)

I’ve heard of Tangkak beef noodles in KL, very famous. So it originates from Johore? Wish I could get to try that!
suituapui: one of these days i’m sure there’s an opportunity!
Portion is big from your photo. I recently just tried the KL’s famous Lai Foong beef noodles too, not too bad…
Choi Yen: yaa Lai foong is very good but slightly different style.
Definitely soup version….and with lai fun! 😉 But usually find soup taste too herbal-ly which I’m not a big fan of.
eatwhateatwhere: I think they may not have lai fun here.
That’s a very interesting name for a restaurant.
Monica: certainly easy to remember!
