Having been to Bandar Baru Klang for food quite a few times, Apple Thai Style somehow escaped our radar until just a few weeks ago, and I’m glad we finally gave it a try. For those who are not familiar with Bandar Baru Klang, it is the commercial area a stone’s throw away from Bukit Raja Aeon, practically a few hundred meters away from Shah Alam.
Apple Thai Style, with a grocery section
Apple Thai Style is one of the few Thai restaurants that are run almost exclusively by Thai (similar to Mae Porn), the set up is basic but with air conditioning, and a pretty good selection of Thai grocery (including chilled items such as Vitamilk) for purchase as well.
The menu here is pretty extensive, includes pretty much anything you can imagine, and on top of that, they serve pork as well.
For the two of us, we ended up ordering four different dishes to go with steamed rice.
Our appetizer was the raw prawn salad (RM 20), a dish that I almost always order if available (they’re hard to find!). The version here comes with plenty of mint, accompanying slices of raw bitter gourd, and of course, fresh raw prawns. The combination was quite a killer, absolutely delightful and super, super spicy! Perfect!
raw prawn salad, fried chicken wings, kailan with pork
Their fried chicken wings with fish sauce (RM 15) was four pieces of wings perfectly fried with crispy skin and yet the interior meat portion still juicy. Very well marinated and delicious, would be superb with some beer I’m sure.
Kailan with crispy pork (RM 20) was our choice of vege since we wanted to try at least a dish with pork here. The pork is almost but not entirely unlike roast pork, complimented the vegetable pretty well.
Lastly, we also had their tom yum soup (RM 15), a bowl of flavorful seafood tomyam with appropriate level of spiciness that we enjoyed pretty much as well. Other than the dishes being really spicy, there’s really nothing to complain here, I’ll be back to try some of their other dishes for sure.

I love Thai. I had the raw prawn salad here before, very nice but they used farmed prawns so I did not dare eat a lot – just a couple to sample the taste.
suituapui: yaa, in small doses, can’t eat much here so spicy!
Your comment of really spicy scares me….lol! 😉 I only dare eat fresh prawns from a Japanese eatery…their kuruma ebi as these prawns are packed alive! Haven’t come across any Thai eateries that offer raw prawns yet. They have to be super fresh in order to try.
eatwhateatwhere: open up to new horizon! haha.
I really dare not to eat raw prawns like that. >__<~
Choi Yen: be brave!
Thai restaurant with a grocery section. Not bad eh, quite convenient! Hahaha… i don’t think i can eat those raw prawns also unless it’s from a Korean or Japanese restaurant which serves sashimi or raw seafood dishes.
CleverMunkey: haha, Thai food places can maintain standard in freshness also wan!
