One of my favorite canned food is the stewed canned pork. It is basically savory heaven contained within a can that can be unleashed upon in the kitchen at your convenience throughout the clock. If I had to build a nuclear bunker, this will definitely be one of the stocked up item for me.

Today, I’m going to share with you one of the easiest ways to make use of this godsend ingredient – by making canned stew pork with potato dish that goes very well with steamed rice.

Ingredients:

  • one canned stew pork (big)
  • 3 potatoes, cut in 1/2 cm thick slices
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, smashed
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon dark soya sauce (optional)

Cooking instructions:

  • boil the potato until soft
  • heat up cooking oil and fry garlic until fragrant
  • add canned pork, add potato
  • add dark soya sauce (optional)
  • mix well and serve while hot

This dish can be prepared in less than 20 minutes, super simple and positively delicious. Give it a try if you like some of those homey cholesterol laden taste.

    Yummyyyy….. best to stock now uncle for another global financial crisis, or attack from Martian or Isil… Also stock up on potatoes too, and some soil, because combined with …. can grow more potatoes !!!!

    I don’t really like the canned ones because the amount of oil inside can be disconcerting, even for stewed pork standards. Last time I had, I had a hard time getting rid of the excessive oil. 😐

    Looks good, never tried that. I use the pork to fry bihun, lovely!

    My girl came home from Sg Petani and introduced sardines with potatoes – she used to eat that at an Indian stall there. We tried, not bad – quite nice too,

    I’ve never thought of putting potatoes. I usually add “sang choy” to canned stewed pork ribs to mask the thought of the unhealthy meat…hehe! 😀

    Hahaha…was just talking about this canned pork with the hubster and he requested for fried meehoon with it. Haven’t had luck with which particular brand to buy though.

    Try it with ‘tau kee’ or dried bean curd sticks. Easy, yummy & fail proof for busy working ppl.
