I was driving around PJ after picking up my car just the other day and wondering what I should have for dinner. As my route includes driving around Kelana Jaya, I figured I should just stop by Ayamas and get something to take home for dinner. Little did I know they have chicken rice set, with my favorite Ayam Percik too!
delicious ayam percik chicken rice
I had always thought that Ayamas only sells chicken and other processed food and actually didn’t aware that they have the chicken rice set for take-away (almost all Ayamas outlets do not have a dine-in area). I ordered the 1/4 chicken with rice combination and chose my favorite Ayam percik (chicken with very strong coconut and lemon grass aroma). It came with a generous portion of chicken, chicken rice, few slices of cucumber, and chicken rice chili sauce.
couldn’t have spent better on dinner for RM5.80
I was a rather happy camper when I started to dig in the food at home. The ayam percik is of course, very delicious, the aroma of lemon grass and the sauce that is similar to traditional Malay curry/rendang was as good as it gets. The rice is cooked perfectly and cucumber compliments the slightly greasy food nicely. The meal only costs RM 5.80, a very good value for the generous portion of chicken, and there’s no service charge or government tax either.

For the uninformed, Ayamas is the company that supplies nine-piece cut chicken and chicken based products to all Malaysian KFC outlets. You can find out the location of their stores at their website, their procesed products can also be found in many supermarkets.

Wow.. It has been some time since I had it. About 5yrs back, it used to cost RM4.50 and we thought it was pricey but very yummy.
I love it but it’s now too oily for me-la… 🙁
Have not bought chickies from that KJ shop for years – they were over-marinated. There is one Ayamas restaurant at Carrefour SJ.

Simply lurveee Ayamas’s Ayam Percik. So far the best percik I’ve had. Been eating it for years. Would usually get a whole bird and enjoy it with my dad. Yummy.

gawd i’m drooling while looking at the pix! damn i miss ayam percik 🙁 gotta wait till december before i can lay my hands on them again!
err cannot be ar..should hav govt tax as long as they have an eating area..unless they r not licensed for stx..oh well..yes its been a long time since i ate this..i usually tapau half a chicken 1 person to chew on without rice haha..

Yup, the one at Carrefour SJ is a dine-in. There used to be one at Pusat Bandar Damansara too. 🙂 Their food is actually really underrated.
Ehhh I heard stories from people saying that those chickens that couldn’t be sold and are not fresh are used to make those ayam perciks as the flavour and aroma of the spices will cover the smell of the unfresh chicken…What do you guys think?

I don’t think they need to resort to that. Urban Legend I suppose, I wouldn’t hesitate to order the Ayam Percik anytime. 😉
hey, the your snapshots of that ayam percik really makes the chicken look so delicious! hehe..hey, but ayamas is no longer that nice to eat anymore as compared to before. They have even been rebranded as Rasamas (no more Ayamas!) and they have made changes to their menu (the side dishes) which we didn’t quite like. But the chicken is still ok. (phew!)

I think that Rasamas if the restaurant side of the ayamas business. That’s why at Ayamas there is no dining area. If I am not mistaken, the rasamas/ayamas at Sunway Piramid also serve kon-lo-mee. It has chicken ‘charsiew’ instead.
