Drift Gateaway at Port Dickson

I attended the Sync Optima Drift Gateaway at Port Dickson last Sunday. It was a two day event on the 3rd and 4th of December. However, I only attended the sunday session as a spectator. The previous owner of my car, who had participated in drift events with the MR2, was also at the event. This time as a spectator since he is currently lack of a drift car, I doubt I’m giving the car the continuation anytime soon.

I reached the venue, Extreme Park at Palm Resort City, Port Dickson, at around after lunch hour after navigating my way to PD for the first time. As I get down the car I could already hear the screeching sound of tyres against the mortar muffling the engine noise in the background.

There were a few dozen cars in the event consisting of mainly old school toyotas (KE70) and nissans, and a some newer models such as nissan 180sx, 240sx, skyline, silvia, and mazda mx5. These cars power through the rear wheel, or in the case of the skyline, all wheels. This is of course, essential for drifting.

The course is designed for go-karts racing, so naturally it is pretty short and tight. There were some pretty good drivers showing their sideway mad skills. However, as there were around half a dozen cars on the track at one time, a single car spinning out meant the whole track needed to be stopped, and that was pretty frequent. The Pajero had to tow cars out of the ditch quite a few times.

Other than drifting, there were a few show cars at the event. Including a Lamborghini, a Ferrari 348, and a BMW 3 series with lotsa CF panels.

We left at around 4pm to avoid the insane ‘back to KL’ Sunday traffic on the highway. Can’t wait for the next Autocross.

Will try to post up some videos next.

  1. -archangel-

normally skylines that join drifting events are rear wheel driven

not the AWD drivetrain found on GTRs

    IF i’m not mistaken la..

  2. Thanks for your support and great write-ups. Keep on drifting!!!

  3. Lamborghini Gallardo!!! OMG who owns that car?!?!?!?

  4. You can select awd or rwd on most Skylines…

  5. thanks thanks. 🙂

wasn’t familiar with the skylines myself.

  6. Where Lamborghini Gallardo??? It’s a Ferrari old school F355, you noob!

and when can you select awd or rwd for Skylines? now that’s the 1st time I heard it….

    Most GT-R are AWD.

  7. The Lamborphini is in the Gallery, and it’s an F348. hehehe

    In reply to voices..

Uh, moron.. No one said the Skyline GTR. When it comes to drifting the Skyline GTS-T is usually, used. It is single turbo and RWD(pay attention!!) as opposed to the Skyline GTR(top of the line Skyline). Everyone means Skyline, NOT GTR version. Now get off the bandwagon and go play Gran Turismo, obviously where your knowledge of the Skyline comes from.. or is it Fast and the Furious. Know your cars, before you start acting like Mr. Tough Guy and start falming people on here.

  9. Im interested with this sport… When & where will this happen again?

  12. man……..this is one of the most retarded threads i have ever seen, most of you guys are retards. Pick up a book or something, you would be surprised how much you learn by researching.

  13. Godfoot420

rwd and awd have always been available on all skyline models. Since the 70’s to the last production r34’s. The differance is the BNR models are front engine rear drive. The GTR models are awd. The AWD are not for drift they are for grip. The rear drive can be used for drift.

  14. Hello i want to buy last 1 send me details through mail on my e-mail id=

  15. OK..for ppl that never been to japan n got a first hand experience with GTR…..GTR although classified as AWD are a completely diferent monster….normal driving, the GTR is pretty much RWD maybe 10% power goin into the front wheels, Thanks to the production of the R32 GTR and the debut of the Altessa System. This system once it sences tire slippage it transfer the excess power from rear to front which makes it more along the lines of an AWD..and as a drifter the R34 GTR has been seen in the Japan D-1 goin sideways thanks to modification of the Altessa system…need to know more jus ask away….STAY IN SKOOH…DRIFT SKOOH

  16. cody s15 driver
