Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh at Sungei Way PJ
Now you see it, now you don’t

Being a bloke from Penang, the island of awesome hawker food, staying in Klang Valley means I have to constantly go out of the way to satisfy my taste buds since most of the food here, well, basically sucks. There is, however, a few dishes that are usually better around here than in Penang. One of those dishes is Bak Kut Teh, one of my favorite non-halal dishes. YUM!

Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh at Sungei Way PJ
drools… argh

Now when it comes to bak kut teh, many of you would argue that Klang serves the best. I would not argue with that notion, but sometimes it’s just a blardy bitch to drive all the way there and fight your way through all the chow ahbengs to have a meal. So we’ve found some pretty good establishments in PJ itself.

Ah Sang Bak Kut Teh is situated at Sungei Way (map below.) The place is rather crowded, as most good food places are, and opens only during lunch time, and I presume morning as well.

Now the food. The soup has a very rich herbal taste and smell, and the meat well cooked and soft. We ordered some oily vege to go with it too. The difference between PJ & Klang version is the lack of oily rice at the former, which is a shame, but probably what makes people from the rest of the Klang Valley be smaller size from them chow ahbengs.

2 of us had the food and the bill came up to less than RM 20. Pretty cheap and a rather good place satisfy your bak kut teh craving.

There’s also a shop in ss15 which sells really good herbal bah kut teh. It has coconut rice to go with too and its simply spoils you like a king. The pieces of meat are however too chunky and you may have to bite it for a smaller piece each time you eat. The herbal taste is simply the best. I think its called Yuk Kee or something. You should try it too. I always like my bah kut teh with lots of chilli and raw garlic.

These is not the best ‘Bah Kut Teh’ that are shown in these web page. For me the only best is found at Taman Rasak. Their ‘Bah Kut Teh’ is the tradtional, and get the top 20 places in Malaysia for the best Bah Kut Teh.. The shop name is Kedai Makanan Teck Seong.. Even got people said that their are the first people who invent Bah Kut Teh. Now is the 4th generation who is doing the Bah Kut Teh at the place call Taman Rashna. Their Bah Kut Teh finish very early, so if anyone who intrested to try these nice bah kut teh must come to their shop at the most late at 9am. after thet better u don come, if not u will get dissapointed because they will tell their already sold out their bah kut teh. To the fan of B.K.T u guys must realy go try it, its really nice to eat.

Have you guys try at Kepong bak kut teh before, should try.Actually in Kepong there are fews bak kuh teh is quite nice.Firstly I would like to reconmend Kaka bak kut teh which just opposite Carrefour Kepong, actually the tastier one not the normal or black which so called “sang kuat”,this pot only served ribs not others than that.Must remember this “sang kuat” need 1 hour to cook and no additional soup can be added because is freshly cook not like others bak ku teh, advancely cook. One advise on this stall is not so clean, please wear as simple as you can. This stall will open after 6pm onwards.

Secondly I would like to reconmend Nippon Bak Kut Teh or “Yat Pun”,this shop just opposite Agogo curry fish head.If you all guys still don’t know where is it ok,if Jusco Kepong on your left hand side and you just drive another 1-2km you will see this shop on your right side or just beside Kepong Pasar traffic light. The best part of this shop is his “lat tong” or spicy soup which they added alot of pepper in.The bak kut teh still consider ok compare others. If not mistaken will open from 7pm onwards.

Thirdly I would like to reconmend another bak kut teh shop also in Kepong main road.Let’s me explain if you come from Jusco Kepong which on your left hand side and you drive further 3-4km,which Nippon in your right hand side or pass through the traffic light and further another 1km on your left hand side and you will see Joo Ming electrical shop which same row or before Projet petrol station. This shop only served with small plate. The best part on this shop is black BKT,his black soup have added some dried chilles and can say nice and tasty.Should not come before 2am because he only open at middle of midnite and only sell for several hours only.

Lastly would like to reconmend Kim Teck bak kut teh near FRI Kepong. If you come from LDP to Kepong, don’t go up to MRR2.At below MRR2 try to keep left and drive another 5-10km before end of MRR2 you will see Petronas petrol station in your left hand side, actually Kim Teck just opposite on this petrol station.Try to ask for help because you can see the restaurant but quite difficult to go in,please ask for assistance.Lastly if you reach Kim Teck, you will see alot of ppl waiting and they only serve Klang bak kut teh, which you can order “tai kuat” or “sai kuat” together with the claypot. His soup is so tick and tasty and the meat is quite tender.By the way, please don’t order too much because their BKT portion is quite huge.3 of us also cannot finish for 3 head BKT.Normally,I need to order extra 1 head but this Kim Teck, dun play play ler….Please come on 6am if you want nice, tender and tasty BKT,if you come at 9pm onwards the taste not that good and the meat,so so only.Early birds will get healhty worm…..
