Even while staring at the huge signboard that spelled out WONDERMILK in large and friendly white font, I didn’t have an idea what they offer inside.
In retrospect, however, I should have guessed that it must have something to do with cupcakes or coffee, since I was meeting Mellissa who’s obsessed with them.
WONDERMILK – proper coffee served here
I like the concept of WONDERMILK, with its mismatching chairs+tables, quirky interior, and not-so-serious art works displayed on the wall. This place reminds me of Melbourne than Malaysia, probably quite a cool place to bring your first date. Great ambiance.
lotsa cupcakes and cute little cookies & marshmallows
If I’m not mistaken, WONDERMILK is started from a blog at cuppacakes.blogspot.com. Now at Uptown, they serve freshly baked cupcakes (4 for RM5 mini, 4 for RM 17 maxi) that comes in all sorts of flavors and colors, coffee, tea, milk, cookies, mush mellows marshmallows, and more.
Ryan and Mellissa, KY & Haze, coffee & cupcakes
We ordered half a dozen cupcakes and I had a latte (RM7) while Haze got a butterscotch milk. The milk was good and I too was very happy with the latte that rivals what was served at Cafe Le Passione (Hartamas Shopping Centre.) Haze also bought some cookies & mush mellows back home, and they were very good too.
Give it a try if you love coffee, or cupcakes, or both!

For those who hasn’t yet signed up a Twitter account, please immediately do so and add me at @kyspeaks.
And for those who don’t know what is twitter or what the fuss is all about, well, simply put, Twitter is both a micro-blogging platform as well as a social network that is limited to 140 characters per update. Read the wiki here.
The social networking part of it too is very simple, your personal twitter main screen only shows those you follow, and there’s also pages to show those who notified you via the @kyspeaks mention in their twitt, and also Direct Message that works a bit like email/sms. On top of that, you can also search for and follow certain keywords in everyone’s twitts, and the current hottest 10 keywords will show up in twitter’s page as “trends”.
Twitter is used differently by different people, I can think of the few purposes:
- broadcasting news to followers
- organizing semi-impromptu lunch/dinner outings
- short update ala-facebook status style about anything
- Retweet (treat it like forward email) of other’s interesting twitts to your followers
- silent account just to stalk your favorite people who users twitter
- free almost real time group sms (if everyone uses twitter all the time)
- get closer to people who are previously almost unreachable (for example, khairy actually replied my twitt)
The last usage of twitter is my favorite, I use my mobile phone to update and read other’s twitts on the go, and it’s awesome to be able to take a picture and write in an instant and be able to share with those who follow me for whatever reasons.
Here are some of the photos I wish I had updated on twitter, but did not do so due to not having an unlimited account or due to #maxisuscks. I now have an unlimited data plan on my beloved Blackberry (which does everything very well, but unfortunately is miles behind my trusted Nokia N82 when it comes to taking photos)
Mellissa decided that I should smell this awesome conditioner from Guardian, and proceed to squish em all over my nose. The lady only wiped it off my nose after laughing hysterically for about 5 full minutes.
Suanie‘s nephew, Ryan was overly active and always wanted to play. So I thought it’ll be cool to ask him to be a pillow head man. The poor boy didn’t know better and obliged. See, playing with little kids can be fun and extremely entertaining sometimes.
My colleague Suhana thought it’s immensely funny when she spilled coffee all over lecture notes during a training session on some specialized software applications.
This is Mellissa stealing the Wii and Guitars to have some secret practice session. I believe I am still a better player. Heehee
Kim trying to cool down her lips after eating this super spicy Taiwanese sausage at Ming Tien at Taman Megah. It was also easily the most spicy thing I’ve eaten in Malaysia (habanero experience in US was a lot worse).
So get on to Twitter and follow me!
Sid’s pub is one of the very few places in town that is not only dog and kid friendly, but also serves up pretty good English/Irish food. The place is slowly becoming one of the places we frequent with Gareth and Kim when Charlie the dog is around. A few weeks ago Horng, Suan, and I went there to test out their kid friendly environment.
Sid’s burger (pork, beef, lamb, or chicken)
Sid’s is set up like a typical pub, with solid wooden furniture that aren’t placed too close to each other and a big bar at the center. Parking is also typically not a stressful exercise as there are plenty of space around the single row of shop houses opposite the condominium.
The pub is usually rather packed at night especially during important sporting events. However, seats are aplenty during lunch sessions especially on weekends.
breakfast set, scrum of bangers
I’ve tried quite a few of their dishes, pork vindaloo (RM 26) which is a type of pork curry with rice and chips, the bbq pork ribs (RM16) and fried sausage, onions & chillies (RM 16) that makes very good beer snacks, the scrum of bangers (RM 28) that comes with pork, chicken, or lamb & cranberry sausages with mash potato and baked beans.
All of them tasted pretty good, very hearty and very wholesome, but my favorite has got to be Sid’s burger. I’ve always asked for pork (chicken, lamb, and beef available) patty with bacon and cheese. The burger goes for RM 16 with RM 2 for each extra topping. The whole serving would be RM 22 if you decided to add the fried egg in addition to bacon and cheese, or for RM 28, you can have it with double patties, insane.
KY, horng, suanie, and Ryan
The burger also come with generous portion of fries and some really good mustard that goes so well with the pork. With the fats from bacon and the thick slice of cheese on top of everything, it’s just very succulent and super delicious. I love it.
Sid’s pub is located a stone’s throw away from Maybank at TTDI
Other than good food, Sid’s also serve one of the best Guinness drought in town, along with other types of alcohol. Give it a try, you don’t have to go there only if you need to find a dog friendly place.
