Good old fashion beef noodle is one of the must-try dishes in Macao or Hong Kong, and if you’re at Taipa area in Macao (where all the fancy big new casinos are), Chi Kei Ngao Chap is perhaps one of those places to check out.
Chi Kei Ngao Chap, Broadway Macao
Chi Kei is located at Broadway Food Street, a small street with some 40 different eateries across the road from Galaxy Macao, which itself is a huge establishment with way too many casinos & luxury hotels right next to The Venetian. Do use the overhead pedestrian walkway as the main road is a bit tricky to navigate on foot, not to mention illegal.
Chi Kei Ngao Chap has a fairly simple set up with a small tables both inside and outside the restaurants. Of course, the seating outside was perfect during the breezy late autumn afternoon when we were there.

We tried their beef noodle with offal (45 MOP) that came with a generous serving of various yummy parts perfectly cooked to a smooth and soft texture. The turnip based soup also gave it that natural sweetness which I thought was pretty good as well.
Additionally, they also serve beef offal hotpot (168 MOP) fit for a small party, with additional side orders you can add as well (check menu below).

The similar version of beef noodle in Malaysia would be the one at Pudu’s Yung Kee.

Ming Kei Beef Offal, Macao
This place was “discovered” the same way I do with many food places – by bumping into it on the way from some attractions to the hotel.
Every night, without fail, this place will be packed full of people forming up a queue patiently waiting for their turn to “tapao” what this old couples were offering. So by the third night, it was decided we have to try this.
As it turns out, other than beef offal (including triple, intestine, heart, lung, tendon etc), Ming Kee also offers a variety of different ingredients such as cuttle fish, tofu pok, chicken feet, meatballs, lap cheong, mushroom, imitation abalone, white radish, vegetable, and more.

We lined up and some half an hour later, made an order of “everything but also radish + vege + chicken feet + tofu skin” that sorta somehow turned out to be offal + tendon + tofu skin + chicken feet that came in two Styrofoam boxes (these stuff should be banned already… )

We brought it to the hotel lobby and also ordered two cups of bamboo salt bee tea thingy (which is supposed to have cooling property) to go with the beefy goodness.
This time around, the offal were quite delicious, it was generally rather soft and packed with quite a strong flavor. I’d have wanted the tendon a bit softer, and it’d help if the chicken claws weren’t still have nails in them and being way too tough.

The beef supper was around 190 MOP if I’m not mistaken, and another 35 MOP for each cup of the weird drinks. Worth a try tho.
Whenever I think of beef noodle, like most people, I usually think of Ngau Kei at Tengkat Tong Shin, and to a lesser extend, Soong Kee at Lot 10. Little did I realise that one of the better beef noodle stalls is located just a couple kilometers away from home, at Seapark’s Restaurant Tong Fong.

The restaurant is of a kopitiam set up and located right behind KFC at Taman Paramount, or Seapark (these two names are pretty much interchangeable). At the corner of the stall, right by the entrance, is the beef noodle stall that offers mixed beef noodle, beef ball noodle, wantan noodle, pork ball, and on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, braised sirloin with radish.

The braised sirloin with radish soup is something that I haven’t come across before. With the meat so tender and radish absorbing the flavor of the beef, it was quite a hearty stew-like concoction that I find myself liking very much.
If you order the dry version, the thin wantan noodle is topped with sweet minced pork and vegetables not unlike the version at Soong Kee and Ngau Kei, and equally as delicious. If you haven’t had this version of radish soup before, you should give it a try.

I’ve also tasted t heir normal mixed beef noodle that comes with tripe, beef slices, and beef balls, lacking only beef tendon (I shall ask the proprietor about that next time) and found my taste buds quite agreeable to this dish.
A meal here cost between RM 6 to RM 10, give it a try if you’re a fan of beef noodle!
