Pan Mee is one of Suanie’s favorite local dishes, a few weekends ago I joined her and a few others to one of the newer Pan Mee centric restaurants that sprung out these few years. We went to Cha Cha Pan Mee at Aman Suria.

I must say, pan mee isn’t one of the dishes that jumps to my mind when it comes to hawker food. Being from Penang (you virtually can’t find pan mee there), it took a little while for me to get used to, but I’m starting to like it more now. Especially one with good chili sauce to go with.

Cha Cha Pan Mee is located just by Jalan Bukikt Mayang Emas with ample parking space right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is air conditioned and clean.

I ordered the original pan mee with poach egg (RM 6.50). It came with minced pork, pork slice, anchovies, mushroom, fuchok, and of course, the potato leave found in all proper pan mee. It was actually pretty good, and the chili paste was lovely too. Β My only complain would be the serving size, it was a bit too massive!

Haze ordered the stew pork with rice (that curiously served with a side of anchovies) Β and gave very positive feedbacks. The others had seafood ramen and dried pan mee. No one had any complains but most of us couldn’t finish our portion.

Cha Cha is a pretty decent place if you’re looking for a comfortable hawker dining without all the sweat and hassle of a kopitiam. The extra RM 2 or so per dish is well worth it.

  5. Hi. maybe you can try out Bao Bao Pan Mee just few shops away from this Cha Cha. Taste better I would say although it’s not air-condionized. πŸ™‚

  6. KY, i agree with you, i think most Penangites are not really into Pan Mee… i’ve been here for 10 years and i still don’t quite like Pan Mee… i can only recall one Pan Mee stall in Penang Island that’s quite nice, just below the Bkt Jambul flats.

  7. nice..but prefer bao bao pan mee nearby it.. πŸ˜€

  8. andymervingeorge

Since you described it so good, I must go try. I only frequent the BKT shop along the main road there, forgot the name of the shop. The one next to the Hokkien mee shop.. πŸ™‚ Great recommendations there. πŸ™‚

  9. I’m guessing the fried pork lard in the pan mee doesn’t hurt.

you can also order an entire bowl of pork lard to go with your pan mee from the side orders menu if you’re into that πŸ˜€

  10. ky, next time u try haha pan mee in puchong… it’s better

  11. I remember that they have something very crunchy to go with the pan mee right??? The only time I had pan mee there was when I was sick 2 years ago so I couldn’t really enjoy the meal

    • Jian you maybe from india and don’t really know the original chili pan mee taste like…… super kitchen is the closest to Kin Kin, jojo chili pan mee is way too far from Kin Kin, the chili sucks, jojo sucks

  17. snowybabie
