For those who hasn’t  yet signed up a Twitter account, please immediately do so and add me at @kyspeaks.

And for those who don’t know what is twitter or what the fuss is all about, well, simply put, Twitter is both a micro-blogging platform as well as a social network that is limited to 140 characters per update. Read the wiki here.

The social networking part of it too is very simple, your personal twitter main screen only shows those you follow, and there’s also pages to show those who notified you via the @kyspeaks mention in their twitt, and also Direct Message that works a bit like email/sms. On top of that, you can also search for and follow certain keywords in everyone’s twitts, and the current hottest 10 keywords will show up in twitter’s page as “trends”.

Twitter is used differently by different people, I can think of the few purposes:

  • broadcasting news to followers
  • organizing semi-impromptu lunch/dinner outings
  • short update ala-facebook status style about anything
  • Retweet (treat it like forward email) of other’s interesting twitts to your followers
  • silent account just to stalk your favorite people who users twitter
  • free almost real time group sms (if everyone uses twitter all the time)
  • get closer to people who are previously almost unreachable (for example, khairy actually replied my twitt)
  • TwittPic!

The last usage of twitter is my favorite, I use my mobile phone to update and read other’s twitts on the go, and it’s awesome to be able to take a picture and write in an instant and be able to share with those who follow me for whatever reasons.

Here are some of the photos I wish I had updated on twitter, but did not do so due to not having an unlimited account or due to #maxisuscks. I now have an unlimited data plan on my beloved Blackberry (which does everything very well, but unfortunately is miles behind my trusted Nokia N82 when it comes to taking photos)

KY conditioner

Mellissa decided that I should smell this awesome conditioner from Guardian, and proceed to squish em all over my nose. The lady only wiped it off my nose after laughing hysterically for about 5 full minutes.

Ryan pillow head

Suanie‘s nephew, Ryan was overly active and always wanted to play. So I thought it’ll be cool to ask him to be a pillow head man. The poor boy didn’t know better and obliged. See, playing with little kids can be fun and extremely entertaining sometimes.

Suhana spilling coffee

My colleague Suhana thought it’s immensely funny when she spilled coffee all over lecture notes during a training session on some specialized software applications.

mellissa guitar hero

This is Mellissa stealing the Wii and Guitars to have some secret practice session. I believe I am still a better player. Heehee

kimberlycun_spicy

Kim trying to cool down her lips after eating this super spicy Taiwanese sausage at Ming Tien at Taman Megah. It was also easily the most spicy thing I’ve eaten in Malaysia (habanero experience in US was a lot worse).

So get on to Twitter and follow me!
