KY eats – Chicken Rice at Yat Yeh Hing, Kelana Jaya

I met up with Terence (the guy who always over order food) a couple weeks ago for lunch. We originally decided to have the excellent Char Siu at Aman Suria, but the place was not open and so we went for the next best thing, the famous chicken rice at Yat Yeh Hing kopitiam, Kelana Jaya.

This place is usually quite packed during lunch time, it might even take a while for you to find an empty table. The good thing is, once you made your order, you can help yourself with unlimited servings of soup while waiting for the main dishes to be served. We usually helped ourselves with the chili sauce too.

For the two of us, we ordered something like half a steamed chicken, a plate of bean sprouts, and some chicken intestines. Of course, we had a couple bowls of soup (ABC with chicken legs) too. The chicken were pretty chunky and juicy, and the soup really delicious, the intestine however, is a bit of an acquired taste.

To many, the chili sauce at a chicken rice place is just as important as the meat itself. If you are one of these people, this stall certainly does not disappoint. The chili sauce is fragrant and makes perfect compliment to the meat, especially with some mashed ginger providing added level of sophistication.

The meal costs about RM 15 for the two of us. A satisfying meal that provides pretty decent value for money. The chicken rice stall only opens for lunch.

hmm… one of the best around… but you gotta take your own soup… the tauke so is so ‘sombong’ sometimes, however, remembered once during the avian flu problem where no one will eat chicken, well, she is like so over frenly, and even served the soup also! But again, if i want a dose of good chicken rice, this is D PLACE TO GO!

KY, isn’t that the day the we both went to the same store to makan ciken rice but never bumped in to each other.. haha.. chiken rice there not bad. but i’m not really a big fan of pak cham kai.

    12. JL says:

KY, go give it a try. If need be, can take you guys there. Any takers???

In addition, please avoid sunday lunchtime, as it is really crowded. By 1pm, everything sudah habis…

    13. WL says:

Whoa? RM15 for the whole meal? I’m pretty sure 1/2 a chicken costs way way more than RM15 because the 1/4 drumstick portion will already set you back RM12.

Methinks you both had a portion of chicken for 2 which would be around RM12. :P

    14. KY says:

      superweightkoalabear,
Yeah, nowadays a lot of local hawkers a bit sombong. Lucky Terence did all the ordering. :P

      adryazad,
      You’re right!

      JL,
      oOo, we shall see!

      WL,
It might have been a portion for 2 but quite a lot of meat nonetheless. :)

Aieee….I was wondering and wondering whereeee this place is, like almost right beside the school, and then I came out frm Kg. Cempaka, saw it and realized that its directly opposite St. Ignatius Church. Maybe you should have drawn the church there for easier reference. Just my suggestion :)

    16. myhorng says:

y kai fan always see god?

    17. WL says:

Yeah they don’t skimp on the portions. :D

    18. KY says:

      myhorng,

      WL,

    24. melvin,foong says:
