My buddy horny was in China, he went into a restaurant and snapped a picture of this interesting menu. I have no idea which translation services they used, apperantly not the leading duo babelfish or google translate.

this is how babelfish and google translation works..
I guess when google.com is banned, you have that much less resources.. Instead of dry noodle, 干面 went fuck. A fuck for $5 rnp, not a bad deal huh?

this is the version from a restaurant in China
Have a nice day! By the way, my first real article came out on the moNSTerblog, go check it out yo!
If you’ve been to any pasar malam, I’m sure you would have seen the Uncle Bob Fried Chicken stalls. They seem to be operating like a franchised business, like McDonald’s or KFC, but at pasar malam level, following the success of fatty guy’s lok lok, I guess.

the prominent uncle bob stall
Uncle bob fried chicken’s tag lines:
1. remove skin
2. remove fats
3. making breast tastes like drumstick
I’m not sure if it does taste like drumstick, but the end result was pretty good. I usually have a piece whenever I go to the SS2 pasar malam on Monday night. The chicken breast meat is flattened and boneless, with a crispy outer layer from the breading, stopped with a choice of spicey or non spicey seasoning that reminds me of Old Bay seasoning.

the 4 steps – fry, season, cut, pack
The chicken is cut into bite size and you are given a stick ala rojak style to get access to the chicken so you don’t even need to get your hands dirty and having to lick your fingers afterwards. There’s no basin at pasar malam, just so you haven’t figure that part out.
RM 4.50 for a pretty big piece of chicken, give me Uncle Bob anyday over the KFC chicken chop please. By the way, the stall also claimed that they are halal certified.

this is the usual location of the stall during pasar malam

of course, we only got to see it from the 13th onwards..
So I went for the much awaited Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest on the opening day last week with a few noobs. If you don’t care enough for the first movie or this one, you can skip through all the text and maybe spend 5 seconds on the awesome pic I photoshopped down at the bottom of this post? Otherwise read on..
When the title flashed on the screen, the Malay translation on Dead Men’s Chest was “Harta Lelaki Mati”, following the tradition of producing awesome translations such as Eraser – “Pemadam”, Spider-man – “Manusia Laba Laba”, Saving Private Ryan – “Selamatkan Ryan Peribadi”.. ok maybe not the last one. GSC at 1U put us through half an hour of bullshit before starting the movie at 10pm when the ticket says 9:30pm. This is getting to be almost as bad as Chinese wedding, remind me to be late by at least 20 minutes next time.
Pirates 2 is pretty much a continuation of the first installation, The Curse of the Black Pearl. Returning roles are Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow (duh), Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, Keira Knightly as Liz Swann, Liz’s Dad, Norrington, and a few others, most of Jack’s crew, including the first officer. The new characters of importance are Davey Jones and his crew, Dalma, and Will’s father.
The story revolves around the British navy trying to secure Jack’s compass by pressing charges on Will and Elizabeth to force Will to search for Jack, now captain of the Black Pearl. Apparently Jack’s compass always points to where your desire is. When Will got to Jack and asked for the compass, Jack of course, being a pirate, didn’t really care about his friends and were only concern about himself and his deal with Davey Jones that were coming up.
The movie then got us into the adventure that features sword fights between Jack, Will, and Norrington, battle between the Black Pearl and The Flying Dutchman (Davey Jone’s ship), Jack’s crews escape from cannibals, Will’s father, the two visits to Dalma the voodoo lady, … and then it ended.
Much to my dismay, unlike the first one, this movie does not stand on its own. After 2.5 hours, we discovered that the ending lies on the 3rd and final installation of the Pirates franchise. Then again, with Chow Yun Fatt and the return of captain Barbosa, it might make things really interesting.
Overall the movie was pretty good, the lack of the element of surprise that gave such an impact on the first film was undoubted lacking. However, the visual effect team did manage to make up for some of the losses by producing a very stunning visual treat that blends in very nicely with the story and not appearing fake at any instance. The effect on Davey Jones’ character was particularly impressive.
As for the story, it was a quite entertaining, albeit some what slow in the beginning of the film. Johnny Depp did not disappoint either. I’ll give it a 7 out of 10 and an 8 for the first movie. Will definitely go for the 3rd installation next year.

Have a great weekend!
Last weekend I caught up with an old friend of mine, over sms she said she was gonna bring me to eat laksa at Bangsar. Now laksa is like handbags and shoes, girls seem to can’t have enough while guys are usually less enthusiastic it. I am one of those guys, but being a must-try-all person, I went with the flow anyway, despite the suspecious venue at Bangsar. I thought it might be at one of those modern restaurants.

the old school kopitiam, big bowl of laksa sarawak
After some twists and turns, we reached to the kopitiam that is situated in the housing area just opposite Bangsar Village. It was an old school place, which was a surprise. The young lady ordered the laksa sarawak for me.
Laksa Sarawak is slightly different from the Curry Laksa (also called curry mee), or Asam Laksa. It has a santan based curry soup, your choice of noodle of meehun, prawn, strips of chicken, shredded egg, bean sprout, and some mint leaves as garnish. Sambal and a piece of lime were given as a side too. Just look at the pics, *drools*

are you not drooling now? this stuff was great
Well, I gotta say I never knew Sarawak Laksa tasted so good. The soup was just creamy enough while not being too overly rich. I had initially thought the big bowl was too much but at the end it proved to be almost not enough. Definately one of the better hawker food I’ve had thus far in Klang Valley. As for the price, I wasn’t sure since I didn’t pay, but it was definately less than RM 5. Give it a try even if you’re not a laksa lover, you’ll not regret. I went there for brunch, I’m not entirely too sure if they sell till late in the afternoon though.

now this bangsar map is simply delightful, no?
